Designer’s Statement…
I feel that my primary skill sets are the selection and use of typography, use of harmonious colors, carefully selected vector art and negative space, and a willingness to nudge professional clients in conventional fields toward designs that are less conventional than those of their peers.
Through my growing skills with CSS, PHP, and graphic design built on the Thesis framework, I help clients express who they really are to prospects.
Custom WordPress Thesis Theme Designs:
I’ve been helping clients communicate with prospects through various channels for over 15 years, and now Thesis is my primary SEO and communication engine.
As Creative Director and Thesis Designer for Rowboat Media, I work hard to make your end of your web design project easy. Through detailed pre-design consultations via telephone and email, I draw on my observation of your personality, professional goals and competitive analysis to create unique designs with beautiful typography, attractive color schemes and a slight touch of whimsy or elegance where appropriate.
Clients tell me they love my typography and “clean” design aesthetic. Ease of navigation never takes a back seat to design — if prospects can’t find what they’re looking for, they will leave your site in frustration.
As a quality-focused custom design studio, I take the time to develop personal, long-lasting relationships with my clients, many of whom return for updates or designs for additional sites. Be assured — I will be with you every step of the way. Before, during, and long after your launch!
I’m a straight shooter — your wishes are always honored, but you’ll get the benefit of my considered opinion on your marketing and design-related questions and ideas.
Life is supposed to be fun… your web design experience with Thesis should be, too!
Thesis Designer Portfolio:
This Southern Louisiana law firm had such an evocative URL that I couldn’t help but have fun with it! The use of the Thesis full-width framework, wetland vector art and unusual colors for a legal website got this one a lot of love on Twitter.

Leo Babauta and Mary Jaksch asked us to develop a website to house their 10-day blogging bootcamp program, designed to help bloggers boost their subscriber count using the same techniques proven by Leo on his Zen Habits blog.

Angela Cooper had the good sense (listen up, people) to go hire a professional photographer and get some great shots, and we liked the one of her standing on a white background so much that we built her site design around it. Then we stumbled upon the perfect 50’s style font for her firm name and – well – one thing led to another.

More fun with the Thesis full-width framework. This young, dynamic attorney wanted a modern, fresh, clean design and he’s thrilled with the results.

When lawyer Ryan Davies of Lake Forest, California, contacted us to makeover two of his websites, he instructed us to create a warm, inviting online home that felt geographically appropriate to Southern California. We chose to blend traditional cues – warm, sunset colors and leather textures – with a modern-looking framework.

I like the Rowboat Media site. Seems like a majority of these legal sites are loading slow, especially Mr. Shaev’s. They might want to look into file weight and when images get written.
My personal site is a Thesis theme, modified by my friend Patrick at AisA Design.
My site: http://joedoyle.com/

Hi Joe, thanks for dropping by.
In three F5 reloads without caching, DoubleMule (this page) loaded in ~1.1 to 1.861s, the Shaev site in ~1.5 to 2.179s, JoeDoyle ~2.5 to 5.465s, and A is A (Patrick) ran ~6.4 to 8.112s, at least for us.
Several of these sites may be hosted on shared virtual accounts, which tend to be predictably unpredictable in their response times.
